CHARITY EVENT: FREEZE w/ Luciano & friends + Claire's House Children's Hospital

Other | Friday 21st June 2013 | Annalisa

Claire's House Children's Hospital providing care to children with life limiting life threatening illnesses an their aim is to enhance the quality of life for children and young people with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, offering a high quality service, with both personal and professional support. Freeze have linked up with DJ Luciano and friends to present a charity event in support of the hospice at St. Georges Hall on June 22nd. We caught up with the organisers to find out more about their thought process in creating this particular event and what the future holds...

Q: What’s your names and where are you now?

A: Jenna and Samantha. We have just got back from the city centre after running round trying to get the artists riders together. The boys sent us for "100 blue smarties and a long stand (preferably from Wilkinsons)". Turned out it was a joke, it's not like we have nothing to do already haha but it seemed to Amuse them!

Q: What’s the ethos behind Freeze?

A: We just want to put on an event with a twist in a crazy venue and bring people together to have a party. We want everyone to leave remembering the night on a high. We differ from other club nights, as we are really big on interacting with our crowd.  For instance tomorrow we want our crowd to take pictures of themselves in top hats and moustaches and tweet them during the night.

Q: When did you decide to do this charity gig and why?

A: Last year around November. Seems like so long ago, it took a lot of planning but we can guarantee all our hard graft will be worth it. The charity was chosen because members of the Freeze team have been affected personally by losses in their family. We also feel that this age group reflects those who will be attending our event and will therefore raise awareness. We hope this will engage with the minds of the crowd and make young people support the cause.

Q: Luciano is a man of his word, he told me a few years back that he always has time for a good Charity, don't you think the music scene should be giving back more?

A: Luciano has supported us a lot! He is a huge DJ with a busy schedule and we are more than grateful for him joining us and making this night special. As we've already said, we are about helping others as much as we can, that's what makes us unique. For other events, the ball is on their Court. There is no better feeling than knowing the money we raise at our events is going to help others.

Q: Will you be doing more charity events like this in the future?

A: Yeah, we will be doing more stuff with Claire house and other charities we believe in! Not all events will be charity based but we will help to raise awareness and build profiles as much as we can.

"Finally I get the chance to be back in Liverpool! Whenever I played here I had an amazing time with a wild party crowd. It`s my first time to play for Freeze and i am especially excited, as it is for a great charity reason and taking place at the beautiful St. Georges Hall. I am looking forward to an epic night!" - Reboot
