An interview with Another Party

Ahead of Another Party’s Halloween event in association with The Code at Pulse on 1st November, we caught up with co- founder, Raimondo Gaetani. After their sell out night with techno legend Sven Väth back in September they are back with another stellar lineup that represents some of the finest house and techno artists on the scene.
Firstly, how did you guys first meet and how did the concept of Another Party evolve?
We met on the party circuit, James used to DJ, and I used to throw parties. We joined forces pretty early on after meeting. We both loved the scene but saw a gap in the market for underground parties in more professional locations, with proper sound, proper facilities and not in the middle of nowhere! We wanted to run the parties because clubs were just not doing it anymore. We were used to the parties of Ibiza, NYC, Berlin and London was stuck with bottle service clubs full of horrible people or raves an hour and half away from central london, where you risked getting yourself into trouble for the sake of some good house and techno.
What is the philosophy behind your events and what can we expect from one of your nights?
Our nights are all about the music, this is the first thing we bring to our audience. We have strategically selected our line ups to carve our own niche in a saturated market, and so far people have loved it. We do this with the best sound systems available, the most creative visual and video artists around and a more eclectic crowd than usual. Another thing you can expect at our parties, some of the most beautiful girls in the world so get to know!
Can you tell us a little about your backgrounds and what your different roles are in running Another Party?
I am Italian and moved to london when I was 11. I have moved around a bit though and have also lived NYC, Madrid, Rome and Boston, but consider myself a Londoner through and through. I have worked in publishing and marketing and then moved onto the party scene when I was 26 because it felt natural and there seemed to be a need for something new, you know how it is!
You have your Halloween Party on 1st November at Pulse London in association with The Code. The lineup is big, are you guys looking forward to this one?
This is set to be our biggest ever Halloween based on the calibre of the lineup and venue, the sound system is immense and the lights and visuals festival grade. We are known for having good costumes at our parties too, we are pretty excited to see what freaks will be coming out for it! Oh and Pulse is being transformed as we speak into a haunted warehouse ;-)
Having a combined experience of 15 years in the music industry, what is the best bit of advice that you have been given?
Do what you love and the rest will fall into place.
You have high production values and forward- thinking lineups, how important is this for you?
It’s everything, we want to deliver a show that you have never seen before in that context.
You have had some massive acts headline your events from Kerri chandler, Soul Clap and most recently your last event with techno legend Sven Väth. What have been some of your highlights over the years?
Sven Väth was the biggest we have ever done, and he is an old friend that I have always partied with. To have him play next to my business partner at my party was priceless and my grandkids will be reminded of it regularly. I say that because of the video and pictures of the event, on the night itself I was so stressed I could barely talk!
What is next for you guys and what does 2014 hold?
2014 is all about going after the big names in our scene brand wise, and continuing to deliver a unique product, through a combination of the best artists in the world and most interesting locations out there. Festivals, clubs, its all in the pipeline.
If you were invisible for the day what trouble would you get up to?
Great question, I would probably go to Buckingham Palace then MI5 by lunch and afternoon then at a model agency casting standard!
