New Releases Coming Up

Next week sees a host of artists releasing their latest LPs. Though I’d love to go into more information on them all, here’s a quick look at the three most exciting and highly anticipated ones.

Big Sean, Hall Of Fame – 27th August

This album has cooked up a massive storm surrounding it and it was by a track that didn’t even make the final cut of the tracklist! ‘Control’ has had the hip-hop world in shock after Kendrick Lamar proclaimed himself as the “King of New York” which has inspired a flurry of response tracks. This has no doubt helped to draw some attention to Sean’s album which features a host of big names. Miguel, Kid Cudi, Nas and Nicki Minaj all make appearances on the album. What to expect? Well, judging on his first album, a comical tone to his rap with the usual clever stories he paints with his words. Oh, and talk of a threesome in track ‘Mona Lisa’ – don’t think new girlfriend Naya Rivera would be too pleased about the topic!

The Weeknd, Kiss Land – 27th August

Always one to stay out of the spotlight, The Weeknd has silently gone about his work and crafted together 10 tracks that comprise the album. His last album, Trilogy was very successful in bringing together his unique sound and clear love for echo’s – this is something we can expect more of. With just one feature confirmed in the form of OVOXO co-founder Drake on his newly released track, Live For, we can obviously expect to hear a lot of that soulful voice we love. Keeping the album fairly tight-lipped, I’m sure there will be more than a few surprises for us to hear.

Juicy J, Stay Trippy – 27th August

This is the album on the shortlist with the most tracks and most features. The formidable 2 Chainz undoubtedly makes an appearance, in an album that also features Justin Timberlake, A$AP Rocky, Yelawolf and Trey Songz adding to its power pack. Not to mention The Weeknd and Big Sean making appearance themselves on the Deluxe Edition of the album. Stay Trippy will showcase the ‘crunk’ style of rap the Three 6 Mafia man loves to do. His excitable personality will likely shine through in his music and with hits like ‘Bandz A Make Her Dance’ on the tracklisting, big things are expected!

Other albums set to drop next week are:

Naughty Boy – Hotel Cabana

SunGod – Redemption

Goodie Mob – Age Against The Machine
