VIVIAN VOLTA Based in London Noise Forever Going Nowhere Dumb & Clever. The new saviour of music - the most talented act we have ever seen. This boy is destined, fated for bigger things - witness the beginning, the raw, the real and the addictive Vivian Volta Live! Nuke Them All! Crunchy spastic electro punk for the new jilted generation... jagged sugary spacepop synth without the saccharine vocals of their contemporaries. THE MONTO We were not expecting to be awestruck, pinned against the wall by brilliance or blown away&but we were! The songs were deliciously idiosyncratic, weird and sprawling, strange sounds that come armed with lyrics promising poison and paradise. Holy fuck.. Wearelikedisneyland
What a voice, what a noise! Young, bold & contagious. Rock Stereo
TOMOKIYO
SHOW WITHOUT PUNCH Two parts British and one part Brazilian, Show Without Punch plough a rich furrow of Tom Waitsian song writing, Elliott Smithian melancholy, and Springsteenian hummability. They have been plying their trade on the London music scene for the last four years, selling their own bootlegs, and are now poised on the brink of a first official release.
Show Without Punch are part of Lost Toys Records, a loose collective of artists and musicians with a shared outlook. See our friends for other member artists.
JOHN PARRY TRIO is a piano led three piece, circling around lap-top bleeps and clicks, with live projections from artist Andy Holden. Sopranoe Donna Loomans has been recently joining the trio on stages in London and shows with the string quartet are around the corner. The records include the Omimushka string quartet, the Jazzuits brass section and many freakishly talented others. "...songs start out beautiful, swing through nightmarish, and end masterful...they re uncomfortably beautiful; even, occasionally, tenderly funny ... It turns out this twisted character loves the same things as any retarded hippy. This album makes light out of some genuine darkness, and art out of some real songcraft. These songs are simply better written - better composed - than almost anything out there. " Scene Point Blank, Gluck November 2007
