Lauryn Hill Sentenced to Three Months in Prison for Tax Fraud

Ready or Not! The Fugees singer/rapper has been handed a three month sentence over unpaid taxes on earnings of around $1m. The 37-year old was also sentenced by a Judge of Newark, New Jersey Court to an additional three months home confinement. Hill claimed in her statement that she always meant to eventually pay the taxes but was unable to during the time when she dropped out of the music business. According to TMZ online, Hill had faced a maximum sentence of one year each on three counts, however her lawyer had sought probation. The singer from South Orange, New Jersey is reportedly due to prison on 8 July.
