Wiley Pulls No Punches

RnB/Hip Hop | Thursday 11th July 2013 | Aaron

North London rapper Wiley has this week had an outburst towards his fellow British artists. Taking his frustrations to Twitter, he let loose on 3 UK acts – Charlie Sloth, DJ Cameo and Tinie Tempah.

First in the ring with Wiley was Charlie Sloth.  Earlier in the week, Wiley tweeted the ‘sly’ Sloth as the DJ was set to host Fire On The Beach in Ayia Napa, similarly named and around the same time as Wiley’s brainchild, Eskimo Dance On The Beach.  He called Sloth a “fat s**t” to which Charlie Sloth chose not to directly respond… round 1 Wiley?

Next into the social media ring that is Twitter was DJ Cameo. His beef with the DJ similar to that he has with Sloth. Cameo is set to host the Summer Love Festival in Ayia Napa, again at similar times to Wiley’s own event. Wiley issuing a warning to Cameo saying “you better stay in tonight when about to hit the strip… " I know, such a spine tingling warning, I may just stay away from Napa myself now! Round 2 Wiley?

Last into the ring was heavyweight UK artist Tinie Tempah. A seemingly unprovoked attack saw Wiley slate Tinie for his latest track featuring US rapper 2Chainz, named ‘Trampoline’. He compared the joint to Big Sean’s hit ‘A$$’ and just let Tinie know in case he wasn’t fully sure “You’re not Big Sean by the way” – think that moment of clarity was very much needed! Bouncing his anger at the collaboration, Wiley said “if you respect Tinie Tempah in the UK, then your respecting someone who hears an American song, copies it and comes home to sell it to us.” Though admittedly it isn’t Tinie’s best tune, he is making big strides in cracking the hard egg that is the US music industry. Maybe Wiley is a tad jealous of his younger compatriot? It seems Wiley won the Twitter tussle but I’m sure Tinie is more than happy to let his album sales do the talking.
