We Are turns up the volume on the start of the festival season

House | Saturday 4th June 2016 | Kat

A few days ago, in a place far, far away (well, at the end of the District Line at least) was the first London festival which we have been excited about this year. We Are FSTVL was back with a bang in the heart of Essex!

We were ready for one serious day of amazing tunes and thumping beats, which would make this Bank Holiday one to remember. The sun was shining and the drinks were flowing. What better conditions for a day raving in a field...

Every tent on both days was packed with the creme de la creme of today's dance music scene - as always with festivals, it was difficult to see everyone! On our landing on the Saturday, Norman Jay as ever was on hand to provide the perfect first beers / sunny day vibes.

Claptone and DJ S.K.T were a couple of the big players on the main stage that afternoon and were perfect for getting the crowds in the mood for the evening's activities. Eats Everything was one of our faves for the day on the Rumours Stage. He never really disappoints us with such ingenious beats. Fatboy Slim as expected was amazing and ended everyone's day on the best of notes. The predicted moment of insanity came at the turn of 'Renegade Master' - a cliche, but you can't help but love it at that time!

Tiredness didn't even come into play on the Sunday. We were still living off the vibes and were psyched as soon as we saw the glorious sight of Upminster Tube Station come into sight once again.

Expecting nothing less from the Defected tent than pure style, and as sure as anything we got it. With a line up that included; Andrea Oliva, Shadow Child and Purple Disco Machine - they made our Sunday a worthy day to be part of the Bank Holiday weekend. We ventured over to see Solomun quite aptly in Paradise as he's always one of our must-sees due to his ability to literally hold the crowd in the palm of his hand. Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath blew the night away in Cocoon - if you see these guys on any festival line up, we strongly urge you to see them!

Monday was a pure wipeout - but when you have a weekend like that, it really is worth it. The lineups for We Are just seem to be getting better every year and we can't wait to see who they have in store for 2017!
