Our Take on Drakes new Record

RnB/Hip Hop | Monday 16th May 2016 | Ollie

After announcing the album way back in 2014 and after nearly two years of anticipation Drake finally has released his new studio album Views.

With the theme of the album revolving around the changing of the seasons in his native Toronto, Views touches on the different sides of Drake that we have grown to love with the songs ranging from slow ballads like U with me to the more aggressive Hype.

One thing Drake has always been consistent with is how he uses his songs to give us an insight to his current state, whether its rapping about his past success’ and how he is plotting his next move to showing us the pitfalls, like in Redemption while talking about his past friends he says “sell my secrets for a tropical vacation, sell my secrets back to me if I was paying”. Its lyrics like these that show the listener another side to the world that these superstars live in.

Of course no Drake album would be complete without features and the standout one is his duet with Rihanna Too Good. When these two come together on a track it seems that they can never do no wrong, whether it is their amazing chemistry or simply great songwriting it is a smash. With a laid back drum beat with some soothing acoustic guitars over the top it is definitely a summer chillout anthem.

Overall it doesn’t stray too far from the usual Drake formula but with twenty tracks to choose from there is something for everyone.
