Bristol's Hackman is rising up the ranks of UK electronic music like an unshakeable, delicious fever. From his inception as a producer in 2010, he’s been blurring the boundaries between dubstep, house and garage, right up until his most recent releases on Futureboogie and Greco-Roman.
In 2011, Hackman released the colossal ‘Close’, lead single of an EP that lived up to its ambitious, psychedelic and troubled album art. With its dubstep bass, R&B hook, garage beat and soulful vocals, it paved the way for lush, resonant dance music like Moderat’s II.
These gritty, urban beats, with addictive bells and bass deep enough to make listeners from any crowd shiver, could only have been made by a producer who understands that euphoria and melancholy are often experienced at the same time.
