The Chemical Brothers are back...

House | Thursday 30th July 2015 | Arren

We all knew it was coming, but finally The Chemical Brothers new album is here, and it was well worth the wait!

1992 was the year that Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands came together and created The Chemical Brothers. Little did they know that the project would last over decades, blur the lines between rock and dance music whilst inspiring generations to explore the psychedelic realms of electronic music with their experimental, bizarre and fun approach to music. They have returned this year with a new album Born In The Echoes, a body of work that sums the dynamic duo up perfectly.

There are bleeps, edgy sounds, hallucinogenic vocals/samples, and drum patterns many consider inconceivable in dance music. Brutally in your face, they haven’t altered their sound one bit and clearly aren’t bored of it either – Born In The Echoes is as experimental as ever and features its far share of bizarre and disorienting moments. Whilst you’re not being spun out, the album is full of upfront club bangers, cinematic emotions and just genuinely good music production.

The Chemical Brothers is a name that is well known, well acclaimed and supported strongly by many within the music scene, so you might expect a new album to be highly praised. However this is the real deal, and every bit of praise is deserved; at no point does the album sound like a trip down memory lane, or a desperate attempt at holding on to the good old days. The album brings you up, takes you down and does all that emotional shit any good album does. It's new and fresh but has all the right elements that anything by The Chemical Brothers should have.

Whilst dance music has recently surged in popularity, many artists, some of equally legendary status, have decided to cash in on this new EDM phenomenon. The Chemical Brothers haven’t and this new album proves it - they aren’t trying to be anything they are not. Each track is undeniably a synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funkin’, and that’s exactly how it should be!
