Who's brainwashing the smart people?

Other | Tuesday 10th March 2015 | Osh

As I sit back, relax, grab a cognac and reach for a copy of The Guardian left by some lefty, I wonder what hapless politician will have lied about this or promised that which cannot be achieved.

I get all the way to page 5 and see a full page advert talking about the wonderful "power station" that is Lockheed Martin. Now even in my head, that of a humble Guestlist writer, alarm bells start ringing when I see this name. Flashes of stories about one of the biggest arms dealers in the world run through my head like scenes from Lord of War with Nicolas Cage.

What is a company that commits crimes so bad you have never heard of them like environmental racism, doing advertising in The Guardian? If The Guardian isn't here to show us what these companies are really about, to tell is about the out of court settlements for defrauding the U.S. Government (yes they are that badass), what is it here for? If The Guardian isn't here to show us how powerful a lobbyist Lockheed is and how they likely control governments across the world what is it here for?

But The Guardian, the newspaper we trust to keep us informed because it helped Snowden, isn't telling us about the deaths caused by the world's biggest arms dealer, the alleged bribery and corruption, or the fact they have massive data on you. We are simply told that they are "
The power plant of the future".

The Guardian, who report supposedly for the good of the people, should be slightly more wary of the adverts they run and understand that the messages they allow in their advertising impacts upon their entire editorial position. That's not the only thing that worries me though, I wonder if I'm the only stupid person that notices this.
