Dancehall Superstar Sean Paul hooks up with UK Girl Group The Saturdays

Reggae | Thursday 4th April 2013 | Daniella

Doing it again this time round! Dancehall/Reggae superstar Sean Paul has topped the iTunes chart with number 1 single ‘What About Us’ hooking up with UK Girl Group The Saturdays in their 1st UK number 1 single and his 2nd.

Jamaica born Sean Paul had a previous UK number 1 with single ‘Breathe’ with R&B singer Blu in 2003. This newest single ‘What About Us’ will mark his 22nd entry into the British Charts, the most ever by a Jamaican act. Sean Paul is doing Jamaica proud with his UK success!

Starting off in 1996, that’s 17 years ago! The Sean Paul has attracted a lot of international attention over the years. The 40-year-old has previously had a handful of mainstream smashes coming from three of his most successful albums. ‘Stage One’ released on VP records in 2000 made a massive impact, followed by ‘Dutty Rock’ in 2002 and ‘The Trinity’ in 2005, which were both hugely successful.

After 14 UK pop singles failing the make that number 1 spot, The Saturdays collaboration with Sean Paul has seen them finally at that top position. Recently touring North America, the Anglo-Irish girl group have yet to make a big impression, but its still early days so good luck to them!
