Event Preview: Jungle Mania Carnival Bank Holiday Special

With Jungle seeing a recent revival within todays “urban” music spectrum, and a lot of todays mainstream artists quoting legendary Drum and Bass Dj’s as one of there main earlier influences, its no surprise to see a foray of events springing up around the capital catering for the masses who are again either rediscovering or possible discovering for the first time, the sheer delight in skanking out to some proper Tribal, Congo Natty, bass laden bass and drum.
Carnival time in London can only usually mean one thing, and if your one who likes to be able to dress casually and get the old two step on, then Jungle Mania might be just the ticket for those guaranteed carnival vibes this Bank Holiday weekend.
Being one of the original promoters who has been putting on regular Jungle nights since the 90’s, these guys definitely know how to curate a line-up that will bring the masses. On the night, Jungle Mania will be showcasing 4 live PA’s:
General Levy: Remembering back, and the impact of “incredible” had on the airwaves and dances was some next level shit. This tune is probably the epitome of Jungle back in the mid 90’s which helped mold the sound we affectionately call Jungle today.
Peter Bouncer: The name usually means one thing, “Am raving, am raving”, and boy were we all raving back then! An absolute gem of an early jungle track, which saw ravers from the Hardcore scene start shaking a leg or two, to the new Jungle sound that was taking over back then.
The Ragga Twins: These boys pioneered the Jungle sound, and always did so with great integrity, even up until today. Nurturing it through the years, and protecting it from selling out and becoming too commercial. They can be heard regularly on the capitals airwaves as well as the World Wide Web, with their weekly show on the UK’s premier Jungle radio station, Kool FM.
MC DET: With vocal talents that will impact you like a speeding Japanese bullet train, MC Det has one of the most distinctive voices in the Jungle scene you will ever hear. Always accompanying DJ Brockie, he has been one of the most popular emcees in Jungle to date. With a career spanning over two decades, MC Det is definitely built to last and in more ways than one.
DJ talent on the night will be come from some of the grand masters from within the Jungle era.
With Micky Finn, the original dub plate don and “too hot to handle” Randall alongside Jungle sound clash champion 1994, Kenny Ken, the beats will almost certainly talk for themselves. With the added combination of the scenes most influential figures that include Brockie, Bryan Gee, Nicky Black Market, Uncle Dugs and Jumping Jack Frost, you just know this will be one party that will have you chanting out for more come 7am on Monday morning.
