Interview with Will Crew, promotions manager of Warehouse Club

We caught up with Will Crew, promotions manager of the hot new club Warehouse. With their grand opening party on the Bank Holiday weekend with legendary house legend Kerri Chandler and the brand new  Funktion One soundsystem. We are just a little hyped!

What is your background and how did you get involved with Warehouse?
We all have a great passion for house music, in fact all genres of music so we feel in a very privileged position to be involved in such a fantastic project such as the renovation and takeover of the Warehouse!

What can we expect from the club this time round?
Warehouse will still be experimenting with house music; only this time around we will be welcoming deep house, tech house and many different variations of house throughout the upcoming months. With such a brilliant job being done on the refurbishment, the club will have more of a clean cut cutting edge feel to it with a great industrial look, ready for the enormous line ups we have in store for everyone to enjoy....

What direction do you aim to go with the club?
We want to provide a cool and safe environment at Warehouse for clubbers to enjoy listening to their favourite DJ’s, whilst keeping up with the ever evolving underground scene. Also exciting for us every now and again we are going to open our doors on a Friday night to experiment with other forms of electronic music.

You have your opening on 25th/ 26th August with Kerri Chandler, you guys must be excited for this?
We are extremely honoured to have Kerri play for us on the opening night we are very excited to hear him play our new Funktion One system. He is a father figure of House and his knowledge of the scene speaks for itself. Not to forget we are open bank holiday Sunday and we are welcoming Defected’s very own Copyright & Sam Divine for what shall be a fantastic part two of our welcome back!

You have some epic line ups, how did you go about choosing who to play?
We wanted to start off with a bang obviously after being shut all summer we felt we needed to bring in someone who would turn some heads and Kerri certainly was the perfect choice for us. With international stars such as Nick Curly, Lee Foss, Dan Ghenacia, Mk, Alexis Raphael and Waifs & Strays we are making a statement and this is why we chose such epic line up’s as you correctly suggested for the more underground sound. Not forgetting the straight up House sound of Defected, ATFC, David Penn, Sam Divine, Copyright and Toolroom’s Filthy Rich.

We hear that Function One have chosen the Warehouse to be one of the flagship venues for their new system. This must be great to have them onboard?
Again we are honoured and very proud to have such an amazing brand new Funktion One kit! To have them write up about the club was a great moment for us and we are very positive that everyone who comes to hear the system will leave very satisfied! You don’t need us to tell you that Funktion One is by far the leading brand when it comes to sound in the House scene.

What is the most exciting thing that you are looking forward to this year?
On a personal level the opening with Kerri Chandler on the Funktion One sound system is very special. The hard work put in by everyone at Warehouse will all be paid off when such amazing line up’s grace the club. There’s a very special event on New Year’s Eve I can guarantee but we will not be revealing that just yet so keep an eye open for this.

What is your favourite club in the world?
Warehouse!

We look forward to welcoming you to the club!

We have teamed up with Warehouse and Juxebox Pr to give away 6 tickets for both events, this is an amazing prize and is one not to be missed!

All you have to do is like our facebook page www.facebook.com/guestlistnetwork and email us the club in Ibiza that Kerri Chandler holds a residency at?

REVIEW: 'Southport Weekender Volume 10'

‘Southport Weekender Volume 10’ is a compilation disc that (I’m told) reflects the tone and talent of the festival. If they’re right then it’s probably a cool festival – one that’s contemplative and multifarious at its best, but that’

From Concrete Schoolyard to LDN! JURASSIC 5

Event of the Moment: Crystal Fighters Tonight!

Crystal Fighters are beyond categorisation. The group jumble up electro, indie and dance, and stick traditional basque folk on the end. They’re at KOKO tonight. Their performances are legendary, messy and chaotic as their music would have you believe, but striking too – there’s tenderness

New House Release: Zona - 'I Am Beautiful'

Well, it’s not really house, at least, it’s not conventional house. It’s soulful and electronic, balanced between funk and acid jazz. But I couldn’t put that as the title. Zona are a couple of kids from LA – Jerry Andrews

REVIEW: Rockfresh - 'Superimposed Headphones'

Rockfresh sell clothes and make music. The clothes are cool; the music’s almost cool. Naturally, being as entrenched in hip hop culture as Rockfresh insist they are, the next step would be bringing out your own thing. It’s a massive task they undertake: ‘Superimposed Headphones&
